About us
The awareness of things by sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste is what is called perception of the senses.
The visible light spectrum is less that 5 percent of the entire light spectrum. The same holds true for all your senses. What you perceive through these senses is considerably less than what is there around you all the time. If that wasn't enough, the problem with perception is created by the phenomena of perceptual illusion and hallucination. If these forms of error are possible, how can perception be what we intuitively believe it to be? An access to reality.
Possibilities of error challenge the intelligibility of the phenomenon of perception.
DMT (Dimethyltryptamine) is a psychedelic compound of the tryptamine family.
DMT is a naturally occurring compound in human cerebrospinal fluid and other human tissues. There are also several speculative hypotheses that suggest that endogenous DMT is produced in the human brain and is involved in certain psychological and neurological states.
In Rick Strassman’s experiments in which he conducted DMT human trials, he witnessed channel switches in the brain as a result of being given DMT. The brain was able to perceive channels of information it couldn’t before. If DMT is a naturally occurring compound, you could speculate that it is related to what you could call a prophetic state of consciousness.
All of the ancient spiritual traditions in the world recognize and use the concept of vital energy as a core element. In India you have “Prana”, China “Chi”, Japan “Ki”, Hawaii “Mana”. The ability to absorb more of this vital energy is obviously essential to the ability to perceive its existence.
Aristotle defined the spiritual as non-corporeal, non-physical. Compared to things like wood or stone, light is incorporeal or relatively incorporeal. Thus spiritual experience in some ways is an extension of our perception or everyday reality.
Experiments with subatomic physics have shown that light and other energies react to human consciousness and change their appearance or behavior as a result of influence. Physical light behaves as a particle when we’re directly observing it and as a wave when we’re not. It “knows” we’re looking at it and reacts to our attention!
Just because the human eye cannot see ultraviolet light or a human ear cannot hear a dog whistle, does that mean that those energies do not exist? What about experiments that show that the human body loses a tiny amount of weight when the soul leaves it at death? What about monks that they have documented living on Prana (life force) present in the air without the partaking of food, water, or sleep for months at a time?
So What Is Herban Man?
Herban Man is based on the connections between Man and Nature. Expanding our perception to become aware of these connections is what we strive for. We hope to provide a vessel for expanding perception and awareness to lay down a foundation as a fabric for a new more concrete reality. Incorporating others ideas and creativity is what allows us to adapt and grow our own perception. It also allows us to bring the most universal and up to date model of perception available to us.
